Experience meets what's next.

A career that began before smartphones, Google or Zoom, then more than 25 years working through the change: software, cloud, fintech, sports technology and now AI. I'm still ambitious and more curious than ever, because technology can make work and life genuinely better. Yet some of the oldest things, like trust, judgement and hard work, matter more as the tools get smarter, not less.

Perspective

What should we keep from the old world as we build the new one?

Born in London in 1976 into an Indian family, now in Sydney. Married more than 25 years, father of two young adults, and a Liverpool supporter for as long as I can remember.

Teams from Baby Boomers to Gen Z, each generation shaped by a different world. The interesting question is not who's right, but what each can learn from the other. More about me.

People & performance

High performance and treating people well are not opposing ideas.

You don't have to choose between results and doing things the right way. The best teams I've worked with set high expectations and treat people properly. Customers notice it too.

Mentoring & coaching

Experience is worth more once someone else can use it.

Some of the most satisfying moments in my career weren't my own results. They were watching someone I'd worked with step up and do something they weren't sure they could.

None of this is new. SKLPS, which I founded and led for five years, helped students and young professionals moving to Australia with their careers. Most of the working life since has involved developing sales leaders, with plenty got right and plenty got wrong.

Careers. Leadership. Becoming a manager or a senior leader. Founder challenges. Career transitions. Difficult decisions. Confidence. Ambition, and the life around it.

How I mentor

Technology & humanity

The more our machines can do, the more it matters what only people can.

AI, wearables, biotechnology, sports technology. Where they are heading is worth real time and attention, and there is a lot to be optimistic about. Technology is most useful when it gives people time back. At BlackLine that meant automation freeing finance teams for better decisions. In community sport it means volunteers get their weekends back.

What it doesn't replace is trust, judgement, empathy and a proper conversation. And more isn't automatically better. I'm still ambitious, I just ask more often what it's for. How I think about it.
